Guide

How to deliver wedding videos to your clients.

The film is finished. How the couple first sees it is the last thing you make for them, and the part they show everyone. Here are the ways studios deliver, what each costs the couple, and what a good delivery includes.

What couples expect now

Couples watch their film first on a phone, minutes after your message arrives, then on the television with family, then again on the anniversary. They expect it to play straight away, look as good as the trailer you posted, and be easy to send to a grandparent. A delivery that asks them to download 40 GB before they can press play feels like homework.

The ways studios deliver

Google Drive, Dropbox or WeTransfer

Familiar and often free, so most studios start here.

+No new tool to learn+Full-quality files
−Links scatter across messages and expire−Downloaded, not streamed, so a phone struggles−No studio branding−Photos and films in separate folders

A USB drive or a keepsake box

Beautiful to hand over, and some couples love it. Many laptops no longer have the port, a drive can't be shared with family, and every one costs you money and postage. It works best as an extra, beside an online gallery.

Vimeo or YouTube

Both stream well. YouTube compresses heavily and was never meant for private client work. Vimeo is a good host for showreels, but it's built for video alone, so the photographs go somewhere else, and its plans bill every month whether you deliver or not. Filmset vs Vimeo.

Photo gallery platforms

Pixieset and Pic-Time are excellent for photographers and can hold some video, but film is an add-on: Pixieset counts it in minutes and Pic-Time gives an allowance shared across the account. Filmset vs Pixieset · Filmset vs Pic-Time.

Wedding video delivery platforms

Built for exactly this: adaptive streaming, galleries under your name, downloads for the couple. They differ mostly in how you pay - packs bought ahead, a yearly plan, or per gigabyte as you deliver. Filmset vs Vidflow · Filmset vs MediaZilla.

What a good delivery includes

Step by step: delivering a wedding on Filmset

  1. Export your films at the quality you'd want them remembered in. Filmset streams them adaptively, up to 4K.
  2. Upload the films and the photo folders to a new project. Each folder becomes an album; folders inside it become collections.
  3. Add chapters from the markers in your edit - Premiere, Resolve and Final Cut markers all carry over.
  4. Choose a look and a cover for the gallery, in your studio's name.
  5. Set the doors. A password for the gallery if you want one, and a PIN for downloads.
  6. Send the link. The couple opens it on any screen; family get the same link, or a gallery of their own from the same upload.
  7. Let them keep it longer. Galleries stay online for two years, and couples can extend them at a price you set, paid to you.

You pay $1 per GB when you upload, and your first 10 GB are free, so you can try it on a real wedding before you pay anything.

Questions

What is the best way to send a wedding video to a client?

A private online gallery that streams the film in high quality and lets the couple download the originals. It plays instantly on a phone or a TV, it can be shared with family by link, and nothing expires in a few days the way a file-transfer link does.

Should I deliver wedding films in 4K?

If you shot in 4K, yes, as long as the gallery streams adaptively, choosing the quality each screen and connection can carry. The couple watches 4K on the TV and a smooth stream on a phone, and can download the full-quality master.

How long should a wedding gallery stay online?

Long enough for the couple to download and share everything: a year at the very least. Tell them clearly when it closes and remind them before it does. On Filmset galleries stay online for two years, and the couple can extend them by paying you.

Can I deliver the wedding photos and the films together?

Yes. Delivering both in one link is simpler for the couple than a photo gallery from one service and a video link from another. On Filmset the films and every photograph sit in one gallery, or either one on its own.
